Day 1: Arrive Phnom Penh ( D )
Arriving in Phnom Penh, local tour guide of Halong Wave will welcome and transfer you to hotel. This city was once considered one of the most beautiful in the Orient, and despite its recent turbulent history it still retains a colonial charm. In the afternoon, we visit the National Museum, the Silver Pagoda, the Royal Palace and Wat Phnom hill, founding place of the city. Enjoy welcome dinner. Overnight in Phnom Penh.
The National Museum of Cambodia is located on Street 13 in central Phnom Penh, next to the Royal Palace. The visitor’s entrance to the compound and the admissions ticket booth are at the corner of Streets 13 and 178.
The Royal Palace complex and attached ‘Silver Pagoda’ compound consist of several buildings, structures and gardens all located within 500×800 meter walled grounds overlooking a riverfront park.
Day 2: Phnom Penh – Siem Reap ( B, L, D )
Having breakfast and check – out hotel. Transfer to Pochentong Airport after breakfast for the morning flight to Siem Reap, which is the base for exploring the fabled temples of Angkor, the ancient capital of the Khmer empire. On arrival, begin a tour of the temples that includes the early-Angkor era temples of the Rolous Group – Preah Ko, Ba Kong and Lo Lei. In the afternoon continue to visit Srah Srang, Banteay Kdei, Chau Say Tevoda, Thommanon, and the fabulous Ta Prohm Temple, embraced by the roots of enormous fig trees and gigantic creepers.
Enjoy local dinner and overnight in Siem Reap.
Note: You can alternatively take the new speed boats to Siem Reap leaving Phnom Penh at 08:00 and arriving in Siem Reap around 12:30 (this means you will miss the morning tour in Siem Reap)
Aside from Angkor Wat, Ta Prohm and Bayon may be the best known and most photographed of the “other” temples. Ta Prohm is popular because of its lost temple in the jungle atmosphere, overgrown with trees and vines, and Bayon is famous for its huge enigmatic, carved stone faces.
Day 3: Siem Reap ( B, L, D )
After breakfast, a morning tour of the temples takes in the South Gate of Angkor Thom, the famous Bayon, Baphoun, the Terrace of Elephants and Terrace of the Leper King. In the afternoon, visit the magnificent 12th century Angkor Wat. Return to hotel after watching the beautiful sun set over Angkor Wat.
Dinner and overnight in Siem Reap.
The Bayon Temple is the dominant feature inside the walled city of Angkor Thom, and Ta Prohm is not far outside the Victory Gate of Angkor Thom.These two magnificent examples of Angkor temple architecture should not be missed. See below for details of these two ancient structures.
Day 4: Siem Reap ( B, L, D )
After breakfast depart for a visit to Banteay Srei, Kbal Spean (River of 1000 Lingas) and Banteay Samre. In the afternoon, visit the Grand Circuit taking in Pre Rup, Neak Poan and Preah Khan. Dinner and overnight in Siem Reap.
The Grand Circuit is actually an extension of the Small Circuit and runs through Preah Khan, Preah Neak Pean to the Eastern Mebon and other temple monuments of Ta Som & Preah Rup, before returning to Angkor Wat.
Day 5: Depart Siem Reap ( B, L, D )
After breakfast take a boat trip on Tonle Sap Lake (best from July to February) and afterwards visit the Siem Reap market and the workshops of Artisans d’Angkor (wood and stone carving) or visit the Landmine Museum of Mr Aki Ra before transfering to Siem Reap Airport for departure flight. Tour ends.
